Peace One Day Video Response

1) What big ideas did you get from watching it?
The big ideas that I get from watching the video is that one person can make a big difference, so if each and everyone of us try, we can make an even bigger difference in the world.


2) Why is peace so important?
Peace is important because helps maintain happiness in even the darkest times.


3) What are the links between peace and development?
Peace can help stop war so then the development can take place without interruptions like war.



4) What are the hidden costs of war? (Sometimes they aren't so 'hidden' - but often they aren't monetary costs).
There are many hidden costs of war:
- Loss of family.
- Financial loss.
- Disease (AID, HIV ...).

etc...

Peace Day Lunchtime

Today we had the Peace day celebration at lunchtime. It was a HUGE success. Almost all of the middle school came and it was really fun. We did many things like face-painting, 'Make a Commitment's, donations and lots of other fun stuff. I could feel the excitement and taste the yummy heart cookies. I could hear the buzz of everyone and the shouting of "Make a Commitment TODAY!!!". It was really fun and the results were amazing. We raised RM 611/- in total. The money will go the the T-shirts for the Angor Wat Marathon in Combodia. The marathon will help land mine survivors and children AIDS victims. I hope it will raise awareness of peace in ISKL and I hope we do it again next year and be more successful at it than before.

Intro to Global Issues

1) What are Global Issues?

Global Issues is a subject where we learn about issues around the world, which include poverty, hunger, education, medication and war etc. We learn about the main issues in the world and what is being done to improve the situation of at least a third of the people on Earth. 

2) Why should I care about Global Issues?
I should care because we live on this planet and we've done something to harm it.  It's up to US to clean up our act and make this planet a better place to live on.
